Handbags Gallery
Each bag is made one at a time. After I cut a piece of (usually) cotton fabric to the size I want
to work with, I layer that background with yarns and other fibers. Over the top of this, I pin a
sheet of stabilizer to trap all the fiber. I stitch over the whole thing in a random fashion to
secure the fiber and then wash out the stabilizer. As it dries, the piece becomes puckered and
pinched from the quilting. I never use a pattern to make a bag, so I determine how I want the
finished piece to look and figure the dimensions as I go. Depending on the bag, I may also make
the strap from coordinating fabric or use cording. Most of the straps are crossover, but a few are
shorter. Some bags have hidden magnets, others have buttons. Some of the buttons are handmade
glass that either my son or I have made. The fabric of the bags with glass buttons were made to
match the button. The interior of the bag is hand finished to invisible seams. If you would like
more information, about a particular bag or having one custom made, please email or call me.
