Naturals Gallery

I live in the northwest corner of Washington state. Colors as varied and deep as a glacial lake and as nuanced as fog over the ocean fill every day. Green dominates, in every possible form, from the spruce needles to raspberry leaves to kelp fronds.

Pebbles and Lace is a current series of work using a particular technique. I start with white silk, hand paint it and back it with a stiff stabilizer. Differerent colors, content and weight of thread contributes to the texture and sense of movement. With my sewing machine at high speed, I freehand quilt the piece, moving it under the needle in varying sizes of circles, interconnecting them as I go.
