Imagine walking through a forest. Your hand brushes the soft lichen of a tree as leaves flutter down around you. 
 
I made this pieces by layering many yarns and stitching to fabric to create a collage of color and texture for the background. The lacey sheets are made by shifting the piece under the moving needle of my sewing machine, creating thousands of interlocking circles of thread. The leaves spilling over and through it are made with the same technique, but a much tighter focus in drawing with the moving needle.
